The Catalina Seaplane
Code Name: LDC-H-CA
Blueprint Notes
The Catalina is more than a seaplane, it’s a story suspended between air, sea, and time. Known for its long-range capability and ocean landings, it played a vital role in reconnaissance and rescue missions during World War II. This card honours one such story, of a Catalina wreck, resting on the coast of NEOM, Saudi Arabia.
Personal Bond
While working in Saudi Arabia, I discovered a wrecked Catalina on the shores of NEOM. That aircraft wasn’t just metal. It was a living story, waiting to be retold.I created a digital experience in the NEOM tourism app to share its history with visitors. This card is a tactile tribute to this aircraft that still speaks, long after its engines have stopped.
